Hello and welcome to our video on best SEO strategy. I'm Chad Hill, and I have Adam Stetzer here with me as well.

Good afternoon, Chad. I could talk SEO strategy all day, and sometimes you and I do talk about best seo strategies all day. But the point of today's video is to introduce what we think the best SEO strategy is, and I think people who are looking for this have probably already been through the tuning, and the on-site SEO tips. And they're starting to think a little bigger picture. So I think first of all, it's great that people are looking for strategic tips to think about their seo strategies.

Let's talk today about how you can approach this, how seo strategies should be integrated with your marketing, and what we can offer our viewers to really dominate the rankings.

Yeah, those are great questions. And the first place that you have to start when looking for the best SEO strategy is to identify keywords that your target audience is using. And the best way to do that is to use tools like Google AdWords Keyword Tool, and there's a number of other third party tools out there.

But that's going to help you understand not only how many people are searching, but what specific words people use when they're looking for your product.

And you also don't want to waste time on the wrong keywords. So when you're starting to get into strategic thinking around your SEO, this point about understanding that you cannot create demand, at least not easily, and so you're really getting in front of keyword demand that exists, and you need to think like a search engine, which means organizing everything around keywords. That's really your first stop, so make sure you've identified good targets.

Absolutely. The next place to go as part of a best seo strategy, is you need to develop great content. And this is so critical in the, really, for both marketing and getting people to take an action on your website, but also to help the search engines know what your content's about. You need to create great content that your audience is going to read and understand what your product does, so that they are more likely at that point to pick up the phone and call you.

And pretty much every blog post or SEO tip video you watch is going to say, content is king. You're probably sick of hearing it, but we're going to say it one more time, because content really is king. You need to have useful content that answers very specific questions.

Content that is engaging, that people want to share, and want to visit and come back to, because it helps them solve a problem. If you don't understand that, you've still got a lot of work to do on thinking about seo strategies.

Right. Now, what everyone tends to start with is what I'm going to mention next, which is now you need to tune the content. So a lot of people get sort of stuck on this phase, thinking that SEO is all about taking existing information and just stuffing it with keywords and changing title tags.

So again, what we're setting out here is that you should write the great content first, and then go back and tune it up so that it has the best chances of being found and indexed, and properly categorized by the search engine. So this is where we're talking about title tags, description tags, the keyword density, really just, is the keyword in the content at all?

And then other links you might be able to point to that whether that page from other places on the website. And we've talked and blogged about this extensively on our website. So again, look for on site optimization tips on our website, and you'll get tons of information on that.

Right and, there's tons of laundry list of this, right? Canonicalization, 301 redirects, search engine friendly URLs. So you really can get lost here, but I think your point is, don't put the cart in front of the horse. It's really about identifying demand, that was step one.

Creating excellent content, that's step two. And then tune in. Don't get that backwards. And so again, as you're formulating an SEO strategy, that's a really important order to keep in mind.

Absolutely. And you might, as we've talked about this, the next step is really, now, to syndicate content. So as you're creating content, some of this is going to be content you're going to put on your website, and some of it is going to be information that you hope to have other people put on their websites to link back to you.

And so one of the things here is that, again, most of the value, most of the benefit that you get in terms of getting rankings in the search engines comes from who's linking, and how they're linking to you. So this information you're creating, you want to find ways to actually then syndicate it across the web.

Very important, right? You have to promote your website. This whole idea of build it and they will come, it just doesn't exist. That's why online marketing is very important, and really the best way to do it, and again, I like your thinking here, Chad, because now you've really got something of value that's worth shouting about.

It's worth sharing with other people when you do get people to come and find it through your syndication efforts, through your link building efforts, through your social media efforts, through guest blogging, anything else you can think of to get the word out. They're going to really like it, they're going to share it, it's going to leave a profile and a footprint that Google is going to pick up on. And as you do these activity, you will find your rankings really start to accelerate.

Right. And then of course, what you really want to know, though, is how are the rankings improving, and how many leads are coming to your website? So the last point is you need to track it. And you want to start tracking the minute you start the program. So you want to make sure that at the beginning, you have Google Analytics installed. You have a way of measuring phone calls from your website.

Web leads completed on your website, so that as the program runs over time, you're able to determine how your metrics are improving. So tracking is critical.

The best SEO strategy has to have some element of feedback in it, because we know this is going to take a long time. Again, SEO is not a one time project. It's not a drive by event that you can just do in an afternoon, tune something up and say, yup, I'm SEO optimized. That's really not how it works. It's part of your marketing plan.

Best seo strategies need to be integrated, it needs to be executed consistently, deliberately, high quality over a long period of time. This tracking stuff that Chad's talking about is how you stay motivated, how you work that into a regular discipline, just like you would with any of your other marketing activities, so that you know your SEO is fully integrated and will be effective.
