Hey, good afternoon, Chad. Yesterday, we were talking about how to sell marketing seo services the right way. Today we want to go upstream a little bit in the sales and talk more on the seo marketing side, how to do seo marketing services for those people that are really trying to grow their business, increase their lead flow, make more money.

A great question, and I've got a punch list here of a few things that I wanted to talk about. I think the first one is not to guarantee SEO. Of course, that's something that Google in their guidelines for Webmaster Guidelines on how to select marketing seo services tells you, but more than that, ultimately we're not in control of exactly who Google ranks and where they rank them. So don't guarantee SEO. It's just a bad way to start the project.

And that's counter-intuitive to everything else in seo marketing you'd hear for any other industry, where a guarantee is the ultimate way to sell and market things. Here we say, you just can't do it. And that's just the way it is in this industry.

Absolutely. I think the second thing fits right in there, which is that SEO marketing is not a silver bullet. I think a lot of times people want to come in and say that all you need to do is one thing in marketing and it's just going to dramatically change your sales and your company. But marketing seo services is a part of a marketing plan and a marketing strategy, so don't sell it as bullet because it isn't. But it's a very important part of your marketing strategy.

You do it right, and you stick with it, and you make the right investment, and you have the right time horizon. So on the flip side, though, you have to wait a long time. You have to make that investment. So it's just this tricky thing to try to market and sell seo services marketing that there is a really good return on investment. A lot of people have studied it. It's well documented. But you've got to take the long view, or people get impatient and bail out.

Yeah. And the last two points really are more about really how you package the solution that you're selling. So there's a tendency-- some people like to go in and do a one time consulting engagement. And that often works well with selling a marketing strategy, or maybe helping with a branding engagement.

But seo marketing is very much about tactical implementation. So our recommendation is the way you begin marketing seo is you market it as a service that you get in and get your hands dirty pretty fast, optimizing the website, picking keywords, starting to think about a linking strategy, and then executing those links, not just thinking about it, but actually executing those links. Yeah. And content marketing< is really a slog in some ways. It's a lot of work. You've got to create engaging content. You've got to be syndicating it. You've got to be promoting it.
