Shouldn’t I Care Only About Do-Follow Links? Do No-Follow Links Even Matter?
Follow (or do-follow) links are thought to be the only ones to pass “link juice.” Because Google’s bots are, by default, instructed to “follow” those links from site A to site B, they’re generally believed to be more inherently valuable than “no-follow” links. That said, a do-follow link from a spammy site isn’t something you want!
No-follow links, on the other hand, contain an additional attribute that instructs Google’s crawlers to not “count” the link as a direct endorsement. This type of link might be used for a variety of reasons, ranging from site-wide policies to a lack of confidence in the source. But that doesn’t mean they’re bad for SEO.
