If your website has frequently updated content, such as news, video or blog material, you should be sure to provide readers with an RSS option. Often referred to as “really simple syndication,” an RSS feed is basically a subscription that readers can sign up for that will inform them when new content appears on your website. Sometimes the entire text is sent in a feed notification and other times just a summary appears.
You will want to decide if the full version of your text or an abbreviated version is appropriate for you, based on the content of your website. A website that offers an RSS option will normally have a very clearly marked icon or text box where readers can sign up. An email address is all that is generally needed and loyal readers can always be in the know about what is happening on your website.
